Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen's wife and bandmate, is now in cancer remission after an eight-year battle with multiple myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer.
Springsteen shared the update last Saturday, August 1, during a video message for a fundraiser event supporting the Pan-Mass Challenge bike race. The event benefits Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Scialfa received treatment.
Scialfa confirmed in 2024 that she had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018. She noted at the time that the condition affected her immune system, requiring her to be cautious about her activities.
During his message, Springsteen thanked the doctors and the "amazing team" at Dana-Farber for their care and praised the institute's "cutting-edge research." He also performed an acoustic rendition of 'Born To Run'.
Scialfa, a member of the E Street Band since 1984, has performed live less regularly since her diagnosis, appearing for select shows and a few songs in recent years. She and Springsteen married in 1991 and have three children.
