Arsenal extend winless WSL run, pressure mounts on Renee Slegers

Arsenal drew 1-1 with Birmingham City, extending their Women's Super League winless streak to five games and increasing pressure on manager Renee Slegers.

  • Arsenal have not won in the WSL since the opening day of the season.
  • The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City.
  • Olivia Smith's strike salvaged a point for Arsenal.

Arsenal's Women's Super League struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City, extending their winless league run to five games. This result has intensified the pressure on manager Renee Slegers.

The Gunners, who have not secured a WSL victory since the season's opening day, saw Olivia Smith's strike salvage a point. Despite this, the hosts were booed off at the Emirates.

Oceane Hurtre put Birmingham City ahead eight minutes after the restart, following Alessia Russo hitting the crossbar in the first half. Arsenal now trail north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur by at least four points ahead of their visit next week.

Why this matters: The extended winless run means Arsenal are almost certainly out of the title race already, potentially falling 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
