Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad further after a mixed transfer window, which saw them miss out on Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr but successfully sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes for £75m. Guimaraes joins previous "win now" signings like Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres, aiming to immediately elevate the team's level.
Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the club's intent to bring in more players before the transfer deadline, stating, "Well, that's what we're trying to do. If we have the right player in the market to make us much better." The Gunners are also facing defensive challenges, with Jurrien Timber and William Saliba sidelined due to injury for the start of the season.
Among the wingers Arsenal have explored are Paris St-Germain's Bradley Barcola, though Liverpool are also interested and PSG are reportedly demanding over £100m. Juventus' Kenan Yildiz is also on Arsenal's list, but sources indicate Juventus are unwilling to sell him after he recently signed a new four-year deal. Atletico Bilbao's Nico Williams has also been considered, but his contract runs until 2035 and his previous season was disrupted by injury.
In defence, Arsenal are interested in Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa, valued at around £60m, who can play both centre-back and right-back. They are also reportedly interested in Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero, though Atletico Madrid are also said to be pursuing him.
Arsenal also hold a strong interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who reportedly wants to leave the LaLiga club. However, Barcelona are also pursuing the forward.
