The new Aston Martin Valen, a super-GT model, has been revealed at Monterey Car Week in California. This vehicle aims to bridge the gap between the Vanquish and Valhalla models, incorporating the Vanquish's V12 engine and character with the Valhalla's lightweight design and dynamism.
Development of the Valen began in 2023, led by Aston Martin's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. Alex Long, director of SVO, stated that the Valen pushes the boundaries of what an Aston Martin can be.
The Valen features all-new carbon fibre body panels, departing from the Vanquish's design with aggressive angles and slim LED headlamps. It also includes a carbon fibre tailgate that replaces the rear window, an integrated reversing camera, and a red light bar that functions as a Gurney flap.
Powered by a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the Valen delivers 850hp and 738lb ft of torque, making it the world's most powerful front-engined production car. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 214mph. The vehicle is also approximately 93kg lighter than the Vanquish, partly due to motorsport-inspired materials such as magnesium alloy wheels and a titanium exhaust system.
