Aston Villa Women have significantly revamped their squad by bringing in four Scandinavian players this summer, aiming to improve on their ninth-place finish in the Women's Super League last season. The new additions include three Norway internationals and one Denmark striker, marking a notable shift for a club that previously had no Scandinavian players.
The new arrivals are defender Mathilde Harviken and midfielders Kamilla Melgard and Justine Kielland, all from Norway, along with Denmark striker Amalie Vangsgaard. Harviken and Vangsgaard both join from Juventus. These signings are part of eight senior player arrivals designed to fill gaps left by departures such as Kirsty Hanson and Ebony Salmon, and Lucy Staniforth's retirement.
Villa manager Natalie Arroyo is overseeing a major overhaul, with 18 of the 27 senior squad members having joined since 2025. Goalkeeper Emily Ramsey, another summer signing, stated that the Champions League is not out of reach for the team, expressing a desire to push for European spots.
