Atletico Madrid have responded to Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho's complaints regarding refereeing in the Madrid derby. Mourinho arrived at his post-match news conference on Sunday with printouts of screenshots, arguing that two incidents should have led to red cards for Atletico.
Mourinho claimed the officials made key errors in Real's 2-1 defeat to Atletico, stating that the hosts should have received two red cards in the first half. He suggested that playing 11 against nine for 50 minutes would have significantly altered the game.
On Monday, Atletico posted on their X account with a video showing a sheet of paper emerging from a printer, displaying the message #StopAcosoArbitralYA, meaning "stop referee harassment now". A second post featured a picture of Mourinho at the news conference with the same message. This response garnered two million views on X within two hours.
Real's website also supported Mourinho's claims, with its match report stating the derby loss was decided by "dreadful refereeing". Atletico manager Diego Simeone, when asked about Mourinho's comments, emphasised the need for coaches to be careful with their words and respect referees and colleagues.
