Police in Bali are investigating after an Australian man and his two young children were found dead in their home in Kuta on Sunday. Damien John Shaw, 56, and his six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter were discovered in their bungalow.
Neighbours checked on the family after Shaw's wife, who was not in Bali at the time, became concerned following a phone call with her husband. She reportedly heard one of her children crying during the call and was subsequently unable to contact him again.
The neighbours, accompanied by other local residents, forced their way into the property when there was no response to their knocks. Police have stated that the cause or manner of death has not yet been determined, and further examinations will be carried out.
Australian media have reported that police are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide, but police told the BBC this has not been confirmed. Roger Cook, the Premier of Western Australia, described the news as a "very confronting situation."
