Barcelona sign Brazilian international Kerolin from Manchester City

Brazilian international Kerolin has left Women's Super League champions Manchester City to join Barcelona on a contract until 2030.

  • Kerolin scored nine goals and assisted five in 15 WSL appearances for Manchester City last season.
  • Reports suggest Manchester City received around £1.3m for the transfer, a record fee for a female Brazilian player.
  • Barcelona have also seen Alexia Putellas, Mapi Leon, and Salma Parraluelo depart this summer.

Brazilian international Kerolin has completed a move from Women's Super League champions Manchester City to Barcelona, signing a contract that runs until 2030. The 26-year-old forward was a key player in Andree Jeglertz's side last season, helping them secure their first WSL title in a decade and also winning the Women's FA Cup.

During her time with City, Kerolin made 15 WSL appearances, scoring nine goals and providing five assists, including a hat-trick against Chelsea in February. She joined Manchester City from North Carolina Courage in January 2025 and had been under contract with the club until 2028.

Reports indicate that Manchester City received approximately £1.3m for the transfer, which is suggested to be the largest fee ever paid for a female Brazilian player. Kerolin is also a significant figure for the Brazilian national team, with 15 goals in 62 appearances, and is expected to feature in next year's World Cup in her home country.

European champions Barcelona have experienced several high-profile departures this summer, including two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas and Spain defender Mapi Leon, both of whom joined London City Lionesses. Talented forward Salma Parraluelo also moved to Champions League rivals Lyon. Kerolin is reportedly viewed as a replacement for Parraluelo, while City have bolstered their attacking options with the arrival of England's Beth Mead.

Why this matters: This transfer sees a key player move from the WSL champions to the European champions, potentially impacting the competitive balance in women's football.
