Hull FC, currently sitting in 12th place in the Betfred Super League, defeated St Helens 32-18 at the BrewDog Stadium, snapping a seven-match losing streak. The victory was inspired by 23-year-old wing Harvey Barron, who scored his first senior hat-trick.
Barron crossed the try line twice before half-time and completed his hat-trick seven minutes after the break, giving Hull FC the lead. Other tries for Hull FC came from Lewis Martin, Cade Cust, and James Bell, with Zak Hardaker converting four goals.
The defeat leaves an injury-depleted St Helens, who have never failed to qualify for the Super League play-offs, in seventh place with five games remaining. St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus confirmed before the match that the search for a successor to head coach Paul Rowley has been narrowed to a "four or five-man" shortlist.
