DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky was ejected from a game on Saturday after committing a Flagrant 2 foul against Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever. Minutes after her ejection, Carrington posted the words “WHITE PRIVILEGE” on social media, tagging the Fever.

The incident occurred in the first quarter when Cunningham, who is white, was attempting a fast-break layup. Carrington, who is Black, hit Cunningham in the head and neck from behind, causing her to fall to the court. The play was reviewed and upgraded to a Flagrant 2 due to windup, impact, and follow-through.

In the same game, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was assessed a technical foul in the third quarter after making contact with a referee. This was Clark’s eighth technical foul of the season, which triggers a one-game suspension for the Fever’s next game. Clark stated the contact was inadvertent and expressed hope the WNBA would rescind the foul.
