Birmingham City secured a draw against Wolves in a thrilling Championship derby, extending their unbeaten start to the league season. The home side twice came from behind to deny their rivals a place in the automatic promotion spots.
Wolves initially took the lead in the third minute through Fer López. Jay Stansfield equalised for Birmingham, but Ladislav Krejci restored Wolves' lead just after the half-hour mark. However, Jackson Tchatchoua scored a tragi-comic own goal for Wolves, looping the ball over his own goalkeeper into the net.
Despite retaining much of their Premier League squad, Wolves were unable to secure a win. Adam Armstrong, a proven goalscorer, missed a golden opportunity to win the game for Wolves in the 87th minute, lifting his shot over an open goal from 10 yards out. Wolves goalkeeper José Sá made a late save from Marvin Ducksch's free-kick to ensure the match finished even.
