Festival first-timers have arrived in Newquay for Boardmasters, citing the music, seaside, and camping experience as key attractions. Groups of friends mentioned plans to look out for one another while enjoying the festival atmosphere.
Kaleb, 19, who travelled from London, expressed excitement about enjoying the festival with friends before they go their separate ways. Lillah, 18, from the Forest of Dean, also a first-timer, arrived early with her group to secure a good tent space and plans to stay together, acknowledging their inexperience.
Lily, 18, from Newton Abbott, said she wanted to experience a festival and was excited to see acts including Dizzee Rascal, Tinie Tempah, and Lilly Allen. She also stated she would be taking steps to stay safe, including not leaving her friends.
Boardmasters director Rob Spring said his team has worked to ensure both festival attendees and the local community feel safe. This follows an incident in 2024 where seven people were taken to hospital after a crowd surge. Spring highlighted a "good close working relationship" with various emergency services and local councils, and stated the importance of being "a good neighbour" to Newquay.
