The Boris Karloff Foundation, set up in 1985 by Evie, the last of Karloff's five wives, continues to support his passions. After Evie's death in 1993, her entire estate was left to the charity, which now distributes around £100,000 annually.
Roger Ford, a trustee, stated that the foundation focuses on "performing arts, it's cricket and it's young people." These funds aim to assist individuals and projects in these areas.
One such initiative is the Windrush cricket festival, which will be hosted by Exmouth CC next month. The festival, now in its fourth year, attracts over 600 people for a day of cricket, food, and music, and has been part-funded by the Boris Karloff Foundation from the start.
Krish Madray, the festival's creator, noted that the consistent funding from the Boris Karloff Foundation has been crucial for its growth. Karloff, famous for playing Frankenstein's monster, was a dedicated cricketer and president of the Hollywood Cricket Club.
