Brighton were held to a goalless draw in the first leg of their Conference League play-off away to Tromso in Norway. The Seagulls, who finished eighth in the Premier League last season, created multiple opportunities but were unable to beat Tromso goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard.
Winger Ibrahim Osman, making his Brighton debut, was particularly active in the first half, while Yasin Ayari also forced a save from Haugaard later in the game. Tromso nearly snatched a late winner, but defender Isak Vadebu sent his shot wide, leaving the tie all square heading into next week's second leg at The Amex Stadium.
Luka Vuskovic started in defence for Brighton following his club-record £46m move from Tottenham. Midfielder Carlos Baleba, who has been linked with Manchester United, was not involved due to an ankle injury, nor was winger Yankuba Minteh, a reported target for Liverpool.
