The official emblem for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been unveiled, featuring a pink cockatoo. This launch comes days after the logo was inadvertently leaked on social media, prompting Brisbane officials to hold a news conference to address the early release.
The cockatoo emblem, an Australian bird, has been stylised to resemble an Olympic and Paralympic flame and the shape of the host state, Queensland. Brisbane’s Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner stated that the emblems "are a celebration of our city, our lifestyle," reflecting a Brisbane that is "vibrant, resilient, connected, friendly, playful and a little bit cheeky."
Organisers also noted that the emblems incorporate First Nations elements, with cockatoos seen as "messengers carrying cultural meaning and linking people to place, story and ceremony." The Games mascot will be revealed closer to the event. Brisbane 2032 chairman Andrew Liveris believes the emblems will promote the unique character of the Games and invite the world to learn more about the event.
