Great Britain's sprint relay teams delivered a golden double at the European Championships, with both the men's and women's 4x100m quartets securing top honours. The women's team, featuring Dina Asher-Smith, Success Eduan, Imani-Lara Lansiquot, and Amy Hunt, powered to victory in 42.05 seconds, finishing over 10 metres clear of Switzerland and Poland.
Amy Hunt, who has now won three European gold medals in five days, praised her teammates, calling them "the fantastic four." She highlighted Dina Asher-Smith's achievement of equalling Irena Szewinska’s record of 10 overall medals at the championships. Hunt also acknowledged Success Eduan, a 21-year-old midwifery student, and Imani-Lara Lansiquot, who has written a play.
Just 15 minutes before the women's triumph, the men's 4x100m team, comprising Jeremiah Azu, Louie Hinchliffe, Zharnel Hughes, and Romell Glave, also claimed gold with a time of 38.45 seconds, ahead of Germany and Belgium.
On Sunday, Amy Hunt is set to compete in the mixed 4x100m relay, where she will attempt to become the first athlete to win four gold medals at a single edition of the European Championships.
