Castleford Tigers head coach Ryan Carr has departed the club for "personal reasons". The Australian, 38, was stood down two weeks ago, with director of rugby Chris Chester previously stating the club was "following a process."
Carr was appointed on a three-year deal last August, following a stint as assistant at NRL side St George Illawarra Dragons. During his tenure, he secured seven wins from 21 Super League matches, leaving the Tigers ninth in the 14-team table.
Owner Martin Jepson expressed regret over Carr's departure and confirmed that the search for a new head coach would commence immediately. Chester, who has overseen the last two matches, will be assisted by Jason Netherton and Luke Robinson for the remaining four games of the campaign. The Tigers are set to visit St Helens on Saturday.
The club stated, "The club would like to thank Ryan for his efforts and wish both him and his family all the best for the future." Questions have been raised regarding the impact of Carr's exit on 2027 signings, including veteran hooker Damien Cook and outside back Tyrell Sloan.
