Celtic's Champions League hopes were dashed for the second year in a row after they squandered a four-goal aggregate lead against Lask in Austria, ultimately losing 5-1 in Linz. The Scottish champions initially appeared to be cruising into the league stage when Callum McGregor's deflected strike in the 21st minute put them 4-0 up on aggregate.

However, Lask began their comeback when Moses Usor levelled on the night in the 32nd minute. The tie spiralled out of Celtic's control in the second half with goals from Robert Ljubicic and Samuel Adeniran, before Florian Flecker's stoppage-time header forced extra time.

Samuel Adeniran delivered the decisive blow in extra time, sending Celtic into the Europa League. The defeat is expected to result in a financial impact of over £20 million.

Why this matters: Missing out on the Champions League for a second year running represents a significant financial blow for Celtic, estimated to be over £20 million.
