Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year. This marks the first time a United player has won the award since Wayne Rooney in 2009-10. Fernandes also received the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award in May.
The playmaker set a new Premier League record during the 2025-26 campaign, providing 21 assists and surpassing Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. He also scored nine goals as United finished third in the Premier League, securing a return to the Champions League.
Manchester City's Khadija Shaw claimed the PFA Women’s Player of the Year award for the second time, having previously won it in 2023-24. The 29-year-old scored 21 goals, earning her third consecutive Golden Boot and her first Women’s Super League title.
In the young player categories, Manchester City's Nico O’Reilly was named men’s PFA Young Player of the Year, while Arsenal’s Olivia Smith secured the women’s PFA Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Sir Kenny Dalglish and Karen Carney were also recognised with PFA merit awards for their contributions to football.
