The Charity Commission has appointed interim managers to the London Spiritual Mission, an unregistered charity, as part of its ongoing inquiry. This appointment, made on 31 July 2026, means the interim managers will manage the charity to the exclusion of any existing trustees.

Liz Brownsell and Jennifer Marley of Birketts LLP have been tasked with several responsibilities. These include identifying charity membership, reviewing governance structures, and implementing a new structure compliant with charity law. They will also work to ensure legacy funds and other charitable assets are transferred appropriately.

The interim managers will also clarify the relationship between the London Spiritual Mission and the connected charity, Trust Property Held In Connection With The London Spiritual Mission, as well as any other entities. Their role also involves overseeing the recruitment of new trustees. The Charity Commission's inquiry into both charities is still ongoing.
