Chelsea Considering Offer for Emiliano Martínez After Villa Exit Request

Chelsea are reportedly considering an offer for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who has expressed a desire to leave his current club.

  • Chelsea have been offered Emiliano Martínez and are considering making an offer.
  • Martínez has told Aston Villa he wants to leave, following a collapsed move to Juventus.
  • Chelsea's current goalkeeper, Robert Sánchez, made two errors leading to goals in a recent match.

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up an offer for Aston Villa's World Cup-winning goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez. The 33-year-old has informed Aston Villa of his desire to depart, though a planned transfer to Juventus fell through last week.

This development comes after Aston Villa secured Zion Suzuki from Parma for £30m as Martínez's replacement. Martínez, who was not in Villa's squad for their opening weekend defeat, is a seasoned trophy winner, having lifted the World Cup in 2022 and reached the 2026 final, alongside a Europa League win with Villa and an FA Cup with Arsenal.

Goalkeeper has been a challenging position for Chelsea recently, with Robert Sánchez primarily the number one but prone to errors. Manager Xabi Alonso selected Sánchez for Monday's win against Fulham, where two mistakes led to goals. Chelsea are currently in discussions with Martínez's representatives regarding potential terms.
