Williams Sisters Awarded US Open Doubles Wildcard

Serena and Venus Williams will play doubles together at the US Open, marking their first Grand Slam pairing in four years.

Tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams have been granted a wildcard entry by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to compete in the US Open women's doubles. This will be their first Grand Slam outing as a pairing in four years, with their last appearance together at a major being the 2022 US Open.

The American duo, who are two-time winners of the women's doubles title in New York, have an impressive record of 14 major doubles trophies, their most recent triumph coming at Wimbledon in 2016. They have never lost a major doubles final together.

Serena, 44, returned to the sport in doubles at Queen's in June and also played in the US Open mixed doubles on Tuesday. Venus, 46, has also received a wildcard for the singles competition, which is set to begin on Sunday, 30 August. The sisters are scheduled to start their doubles tournament on either Thursday, 3 September or Friday, 4 September.
