Chelsea are in talks to sign Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor. The Blues previously expressed interest in the 18-year-old Italian when they signed Marco Palestra from the Serie A side in July.
Atalanta are reportedly willing to sell Ahanor if their valuation of 40m euros (£34.3m) is met. Ahanor, primarily a left-back, joined Atalanta last summer from Genoa for a reported fee of 16m euros, plus 4m euros in add-ons.
Last season, Ahanor made 28 appearances in Serie A for Atalanta, establishing himself as a regular starter. He also made his Champions League debut in September and was called up by Italy for friendly matches in May.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has been building his squad since taking over in July, signing England midfielder Morgan Rogers for a club record £117m, and adding Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.
