Chelsea have officially signed Argentina international Valentín Barco from their sister club Strasbourg. The 22-year-old has committed to a seven-year deal with the London club.
Barco, a versatile player capable of playing at left-back and in central midfield, previously made seven appearances for Brighton, with six of those in the Premier League during the 2023-24 season. He moved to Strasbourg on loan in 2025 before making the move permanent later that year, making 54 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
This signing marks the eighth arrival under new manager Xabi Alonso's tenure. Chelsea's busy summer transfer window has also seen the additions of Danny Welbeck, Maxence Lacroix, Morgan Rogers, Denner, Marco Palestra, Emmanuel Emegha, and Geovany Quenda.
Barco was part of the Argentina squad that finished as World Cup runners-up, earning his fifth cap in a 3-1 group-stage victory over Jordan. He is expected to join his new teammates shortly on their tour of Australia and Hong Kong.
