Chelsea secured a dramatic 6-3 victory over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup third round today, overcoming an early two-goal deficit. Manager Xabi Alonso made nine changes to his side, while Leeds also rotated their squad with eight changes.
Leeds initially took a 2-0 lead through goals from Tarik Muharemovic and Brenden Aaronson. However, Alonso introduced Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Pedro Neto, and Reece James at half-time, which proved to be a turning point.
Chelsea scored four times in 12 minutes following the substitutions, with Palmer converting a penalty and then equalising two minutes later. Pedro Neto and Danny Welbeck also scored as Chelsea took the lead. Despite a goal back from Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Leeds, Valentín Barco and Welbeck sealed Chelsea's 6-3 win.
Leeds have now exited the Carabao Cup in the third round for the 14th time in 18 years.
