A City lawyer, Richard Bloomfield, 38, has pleaded not guilty to five counts of alleged insider dealing. The charges relate to trading in the assets of maternity fashion brand Seraphine Group.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) charged Mr Bloomfield in July, alleging he used inside information obtained as a lawyer on an acquisition of the company to buy and sell Seraphine Group shares. The alleged dealings occurred on five different occasions between 28 March 2022 and 10 January 2023 on the London Stock Exchange, ahead of the proposed acquisition.

Mr Bloomfield's lawyer, Alison Clare KC, proposed 11 September 2028 for the trial, which Judge Baumgartner agreed to. Another case management hearing is scheduled for 13 September 2027.
