The Civil Nuclear Constabulary's (CNC) specialist development programme, Exercise Synergy, has achieved a 100% success rate for apprentices completing their End-Point Assessment (EPA) in its first year. Every apprentice who has taken part in the programme has successfully passed their final assessment.
Introduced in September 2025 by the Professional Development Unit (PDU), Exercise Synergy was designed to help apprentices test their knowledge, skills, and behaviours developed during their two-year apprenticeship. It also aims to identify areas for improvement before their final assessment.
The latest exercise gathered 16 apprentices from across the constabulary for a series of classroom and practical activities. These included simulated incidents, crime scene management, professional discussions, and statement-writing exercises.
Sergeant Will Roberts, PDU Lead, stated that Exercise Synergy is continuously adapting to the needs of apprentices. He added that learning from each EPA is incorporated into the planning of the exercise to refine and improve it.
