The UK's involvement in the European Space Agency's ExoMars programme has supported over 200 high-skilled jobs across the country. Over the past two decades, the UK has invested around £490 million into the programme.
This funding contributes to the science, engineering, and technology necessary for the mission, including the construction of the Rosalind Franklin rover. The rover is being built by Airbus Defence and Space at its UK facility in Stevenage.
Beyond the direct jobs, 31 UK scientists are named mission instrument team members, with over 100 UK scientists involved in the programme more broadly. UK academic institutions are also contributing to instruments for the Rosalind Franklin rover, including the panoramic camera system (PanCam) which is UK-led.
