Australian comedian Judith Lucy is preparing for a double mastectomy this Friday, three weeks after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis. Scans from the previous day have confirmed the cancer is not present elsewhere in her body.
Lucy, who is 59, stated she is not planning reconstruction following the surgery. She expressed a sense of peace about the procedure, prioritising survival over the loss of her breasts.
The diagnosis came shortly before the release of her latest book, Well Well Well … My Wellness Odyssey. Lucy indicated that she likely would not have shared her cancer diagnosis publicly if not for the impending book launch.
