Como president Mirwan Suwarso and several directors are surrendering their tickets for the club's Champions League debut to ensure older fans can attend the historic match.
The Serie A club is set to host RB Leipzig on Thursday at 20:00 BST, marking their first appearance in the continental competition in their 119-year history. Como secured their spot by finishing fourth in the Italian top flight last season under the guidance of former midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Demand for tickets for Como's European debut has significantly outstripped supply. The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, located on the shores of Lake Como, has a capacity of approximately 12,000, which was further reduced by 1,000 due to Uefa's broadcasting and operational requirements.
Following the sell-out, Indonesian businessman Suwarso announced on Instagram that he and other club executives plan to give up their seats for older supporters. He stated, "We want those seats to be allocated to supporters who have waited the longest - fans born in 1950 or earlier, who have followed Como through every division and every era."
Como has experienced a notable ascent in recent years, climbing from lower divisions to reach Europe's elite. The Lombardy-based team ended a 21-year wait to reach Serie A in 2024, achieving a third promotion in six seasons, and then secured a top-four finish last term.
