A compensation scheme has opened for individuals affected by the Christopher Street Day terror attack in Berlin, which occurred on 25 July 2026. The Victims of Overseas Terrorism Compensation Scheme 2012 is now accepting applications from those who were injured or bereaved.
Eligibility for the scheme includes British, EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens ordinarily resident in the UK, members of the UK armed forces, or close relatives of individuals in these categories. Further criteria for eligibility are detailed in the scheme's guide.
Applications for compensation can be made online, and a helpline is available for assistance from 8:30 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday. Applicants do not require a solicitor or claims management company, and free independent advice is available depending on residency in England and Wales or Scotland, or from other charitable organisations.
