Two cats in Coventry have gained local fame, becoming popular attractions at city venues. Murphy, a former stray, has become a permanent resident at The Old Windmill pub in the city centre. The pub's Peter Dunkley stated that people who have seen Murphy on social media now visit the pub specifically to see him.
Across town, Fargo is a well-known presence at Fargo Village, a creative hub. He is regularly seen around the site's shops and bars, mixing with ravers and drinkers. Bernie Blossom, bar manager at The Box, said that many people visit Fargo Village just to see Fargo.
Staff at Fargo Village have set up an Instagram account to track Fargo's owner and have launched merchandise to cover his vet bills and wellbeing. Jo Taylor from Indie Mart said mugs, key rings, prints, and badges are being produced. Sarah Friedlos, owner of Beadlebop Design, took Fargo to a charity to check for a microchip, but without success.
At The Old Windmill, merchandise featuring Murphy has raised approximately £80 for the Coventry Foodbank project. There are also plans for customers to make donations to the RSPCA, as the venue has become more aware of animal welfare since Murphy's arrival.
