A cricket match in Northern Ireland was conceded by the home team, Ballyspallen, on Saturday after a broken printer prevented the calculation of Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) scores.
Ballyspallen were hosting Eglinton in the North West Cricket Union Premier League. Eglinton had scored 159 runs, all out in 48.1 overs, before rain interrupted Ballyspallen's response at 19 runs after two overs.
Officials determined that the DLS method was required due to lost overs. However, the inability to produce a DLS sheet meant visiting team Eglinton were awarded the victory without further play.
North West Cricket Union regulations stipulate that the host team must immediately concede the game if a DLS sheet cannot be provided to both teams and umpires. The regulations also require the home club to have a computer with necessary software, an operational printer with sufficient supplies, and a proficient operator available before the match begins.
