England international Ollie Watkins has officially joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal from Aston Villa in a reported £50m transfer. The 30-year-old forward's departure adds to a busy summer of exits for Aston Villa.
Watkins arrived at Villa in 2020 from Brentford and consistently reached double figures in goals during each of his seasons at the club. In an Instagram post on Sunday, Watkins reflected on his time, stating, “6 amazing years has come to an end. Thank you for the amazing memories and always supporting me through highs and lows. Saying goodbye is never easy to this club as it’s been a massive part of my life on and off the pitch.”
This transfer follows other significant sales for Villa in the current window, including Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Ezri Konsa, and Emiliano Martínez, who moved to Chelsea on Sunday.
