Crystal Palace are attempting to secure Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, entering talks with the Belgian club. This move comes as Aston Villa has also been working on a deal for the Ecuador international.
Ordonez is considered a long-term target for Crystal Palace, who have intensified their search for a new centre-back following Chadi Riad's injury on Saturday. The club recently completed a loan deal for Axel Disasi but aims to add another centre-back.
Aston Villa's interest in Ordonez reportedly increased after they struggled to agree a fee with Southampton for Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Villa had previously sold key centre-back Ezri Konsa to Arsenal last week. Discussions regarding Ordonez are ongoing, with the Belgian side valuing him at £40m.
