A new short film, 'Flesh Impact', featuring Dakota Johnson as Marilyn Monroe, is set to premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival. The film, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, will also star Ellen Burstyn playing a different version of Monroe.
Ahead of the premiere, a press release from MyHeritage revealed that Johnson and Monroe are related. The release states that Marilyn Monroe is Dakota Johnson's ninth cousin three times removed, with their shared ancestry tracing back to 17th-century English settlers Richard and Charity Tydings.
Monroe descends from the Tydings' daughter Pretitia, while Johnson and her father, Don Johnson, descend from Pretitia's younger sister, Mary.
