Darts player Stephen Bunting has revealed he has received death threats and that his eldest son, Toby, 14, was bullied at school, leading to his move to a private school. The abuse followed Bunting's increased social media presence and a comment made during the world championship last December.
Bunting, who describes X (formerly Twitter) as a "very toxic platform," has reduced his messaging activity there. He finds Instagram and TikTok to be less toxic and continues to use them for engaging with fans and promoting his career, including his new book, Bulletproof: From Pub to Palace, My Life in Darts.
Despite the negative experiences, Bunting acknowledges the global growth of darts and his increasing recognition, even in places like New York. He continues to embrace social media as part of his connection with fans, while also managing the challenges of public life.
