Emo math-rockers Daydream Plus have released their video game-inspired remix album, 'Second Last Day Of Summer: Extended Forecast', for streaming. This album reimagines their original songs as 8-bit video game tracks.
For the past three months, 'Extended Forecast' was exclusively available as a working NES cartridge. Fans without a retro Nintendo console can now stream the album.
Daydream Plus, which includes members of death metal group Tomb Mold, released their debut album, 'Second Last Day Of Summer', in July. This instrumental record drew inspiration from artists like Jimmy Eat World and American Football, as well as chiptune groups Anamanaguchi and Diasterpeace, and iconic gaming soundtracks such as Final Fantasy 7.
Following the sell-out of the initial NES cartridge run, Run For Cover records has announced a second run, with pre-orders currently available.
Payson Power of Daydream Plus previously told NME that he values physical media as a "sign of respect to the artist." He also expressed concerns about the shift towards digital-only releases in the gaming industry, citing the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 and PlayStation's plans to abandon disc releases from January 2028.
