Australian DJ Dom Dolla, whose real name is Dominic Matheson, has made history by performing the biggest electronic dance music (EDM) concert by a solo artist in Australia. The event at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on Thursday drew a crowd of 60,000 people.
This record-breaking show highlights the growing popularity of EDM, both within Australia and globally. Australia currently ranks as the world's third-largest streaming market for EDM, behind the US and Germany, with Australian EDM being the most popular genre internationally on Spotify.
Dom Dolla's success includes selling 170,000 tickets for his 2024 national tour, which was the largest ever by an Australian electronic artist. He also sold out Madison Square Garden twice in 2025. Following his recent Australian record, he is set to achieve another milestone in February by staging New Zealand's biggest-ever electronic music event.
During the Marvel Stadium performance, Dom Dolla used fireballs, fireworks, and lasers. Despite a technical issue that caused the bass to disappear for 20 minutes, the crowd's energy reportedly returned when the sound was restored.
