Callum Smith, from Warwickshire, is scheduled to test his specially adapted race car at Donnington Park on 2 September. Smith, who was born without arms, aims to compete in motorsport using only his feet.
The 23-year-old joined Team Brit, a competitive team of disabled racing drivers, after a successful test day at Silverstone. His BMW 1 Series race car has been adapted by Coventry company Jim Doran Hand Controls, which moved the steering wheel to the floor for foot operation.
To obtain a racing licence, Smith must demonstrate he can exit the car unaided within 10 seconds. He also needs to raise £50,000 to cover the costs of car conversion, equipment, and tuition.
