A section of the M25 in Surrey has been closed and is expected to remain shut throughout the morning rush hour due to a crash, according to highway officials. The anti-clockwise carriageway is affected between junction 10 (Wisley) and junction 11 (Chertsey).
The collision took place just before midnight. National Highways stated that police concluded their investigations at the scene around 06:00 BST, but cautioned motorists to avoid the motorway for most of the morning.
The incident scene is currently being cleared, a process expected to take several hours, meaning the closure will persist through the morning peak travel period. Travel site Inrix reports congestion extending to junction 13 (Staines), with queues diverting via Byfleet to the A3 at Cobham.
National Highways advises drivers to follow the Hollow Square route, leaving the M25 at junction 11, taking the A320 through Woking and Ottershaw, then joining the A245 towards Cobham, and rejoining the motorway at Junction 10 via the A3.
