Irish cyclist Eddie Dunbar, riding for Pinarello Q36.5, clinched a last-gasp victory on stage 19 of the Vuelta a España. The 30-year-old overtook Colombian Santiago Buitrago with just 300 metres left of the 210km mountainous stage from Vélez-Málaga to Peñas Blancas, finishing 14 seconds ahead.
Meanwhile, Movistar’s Enric Mas successfully defended his overall lead, maintaining a 1 minute 37 second advantage over Primoz Roglic. Mas, who has previously finished second three times, is now closing in on his first Vuelta title.
Despite attempts by Roglic's Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team and Richard Carapaz's EF Education-Easypost to increase the pace on the final 18km climb, Mas comfortably held his position. British teammate Thomas Gloag finished third, 23 seconds behind Dunbar.
