The main house on Cumbria's Edenhall Estate, owned by the Holden-Hindley family for more than five centuries, is available for self-catered stays. Located in the Lake District's Eden Valley, the 1,500-acre estate features exteriors that are largely untouched, apart from new windows, and include a clock tower crafted by the foundry behind Big Ben.
Inside, the main house blends 1700s elements, such as De Gournay-esque wallpaper and an antique Steinway, with 21st-century design in areas like the kitchen. The property offers six bedrooms, which can comfortably sleep twelve guests, and is noted for its soundproofing.
Guests can access amenities including a private chef, a sauna, and a hedge-wrapped hot tub. The estate also provides services and amenities from its hotel operations, such as a courtyard gym and massages.
