Edu Gaspar has departed from his position as global head of football at Premier League club Nottingham Forest. Reports from The Telegraph indicate that his contract was terminated, marking the end of his year-long tenure in the Midlands.

Gaspar, a former Arsenal invincible, joined Forest in July 2025. Upon his appointment 14 months ago, he stated, “I’m truly excited about this new chapter and honoured by the trust placed in me. This project connects deeply with my values around innovation and long-term planning. I look forward to building a global football model that is competitive, sustainable, and aligned with our president’s ambition.”

His time at the club reportedly included a rocky relationship with former manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who some reports suggested saw Gaspar as an “awkward middle-man” between the coach and owner Evangelos Marinakis. Gaspar also reportedly had difficulties in building a relationship with Marinakis.

The club, currently 16th in the Premier League after three games, recently appointed Theodore Giannikos as chief executive, replacing Lina Souloukou. Giannikos is set to “lead the club’s strategic direction and oversee the delivery of its long-term ambitions, both on and off the pitch.”
