Egyptian photographer Mirna Abass has captured what he describes as his own "decisive moment" with an iPhone 13. The image shows a teenage fisher leaping between two boats in Ezbet El Borg, a shipbuilding and fishing port in the Damietta governorate.
Abass, an agricultural engineer who considers film and photography his true passions, was on a walk with the Egyptian Camera Crew photography club when he took the shot. He states he waited patiently for the teenager to make the jump, aiming to capture the contrasting vessels.
He described the human element in the photograph as providing a sense of scale for the large ships and appreciated how he captured the leap from a white ship to a colourful one, likening it to "escaping from pale life to fruitful life."
