Emma Finucane has capped a remarkable week at the Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai by securing a bronze medal in the keirin. The 23-year-old narrowly missed out on gold by just 14 thousandths of a second.
This bronze adds to her earlier successes, which included silver medals in both the team and individual sprint events. This marks a significant milestone for Finucane, as it is the first time she has achieved a medal in all three events at a World Championships.
Finucane expressed pride in her performance, stating, “I gave it everything I could out there. To get a bronze medal at the end of it is something to be really proud of.” She also noted the competitive field, adding, “The field today was really stacked, women’s sprint is just moving forward and to be part of it, medalling in every event, I can be really, really proud of that.”
Great Britain finished at the top of the medal table in Shanghai, securing a total of 12 medals, including six golds.
