England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been charged by the Cricket Regulator for bringing the game into disrepute. The charge follows an incident in Derby in August.
Carse was arrested and then de-arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in the early hours of 23 August. Social media footage reportedly showed him in handcuffs. Derbyshire Police closed an investigation into an alleged assault last month.
The 31-year-old was stood down from England's squad for the second Test against Pakistan after the incident and has not been picked by the national team since. He could face sanction after being charged with breaching Regulation 3.2 of the ECB Professional Conduct Regulations, with the matter referred to the independent Cricket Discipline Panel.
White-ball captain Harry Brook stated last month that he felt Carse needed time away from the international game. Carse made his last of 58 England appearances in January and missed the start of the summer due to injury.
