  • The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with goals from Stuart Rushmere and Henry Croft for England.
  • England will now play Australia in the fifth-place match.

England's World Cup journey has come to an end following a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in their final Pool E fixture. Zak Jones' side required a victory against the co-hosts to advance from the second pool stage to the semi-finals.

Stuart Rushmere put England ahead after five minutes, but the Netherlands, three-time World Cup winners, responded with goals from Jip Janssen and Thierry Brinkman. Henry Croft levelled the score for England early in the fourth quarter, though they were unable to find a winning goal in Amstelveen.

England captain Zach Wallace expressed his disappointment, stating, "[I am] gutted, heartbroken. It hurts a lot." He added, "We gave it everything and we put in a performance we can be proud of. In the end it wasn't to be."

The result sees the Netherlands top Pool E and progress to the semi-finals alongside Argentina. England finished third in the group, with India in fourth. Germany and Spain complete the semi-final line-up. England's final match of the tournament will be the fifth-place game against Australia on Friday at 14:00 BST.
