New Eurostar trains, named Celestia, are set to feature double-decker on-board bars as a key attraction. The two-storey drinks areas will be hosted by staff and accessible to all passengers, with different ambiances planned for each floor.
Eurostar announced plans for these double-decker trains in October 2025. The fully electric fleet is due to enter service in 2031.
An agreement worth €2bn (£1.7bn) has been made with French manufacturer Alstom to build the trains. These new trains will operate in addition to the existing 17 single-decker e320s, potentially increasing Eurostar's total fleet to up to 67 trains.
The Celestia trains will offer 20 per cent more seats compared to the current e320 fleet. They will also be equipped with air conditioning capable of operating in temperatures up to 55 degrees.
