Beau Lamarre-Condon, a former police officer, was reportedly seen sizing up a surfboard bag days before the alleged murders of Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29, a Sydney court has heard. Chilling CCTV footage was shown to the jury on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
Mr Lamarre-Condon has been accused of fatally shooting the Sydney couple with his police service weapon at Mr Baird’s Paddington home on 19 February 2024. He pleaded not guilty earlier this week to two counts of murder and one charge of aggravated break and enter.
The CCTV footage, taken from Miranda Westfield on 17 February 2024, was played to the NSW supreme court trial. It reportedly shows Mr Lamarre-Condon and a friend entering a Decathlon store, where he is seen handling and measuring a surfboard bag against his friend's height before purchasing it with cash.
Prosecutors allege that two days later, Mr Lamarre-Condon shot the two men and placed Mr Baird in the purchased bag. Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC told the court that Mr Lamarre-Condon later returned to the same store to buy a second surfboard bag to conceal Mr Davies' body.
The defence team claims Mr Lamarre-Condon was acting in self-defence after entering Mr Baird’s home disguised as an Uber Eats driver. The prosecution has alleged that Mr Lamarre-Condon developed an "infatuation and obsession" with Mr Baird, leading to compulsive behaviour and planning to murder Mr Baird in early 2024.
